Below this text
is an experiment with using computers to help with complicated
communication between mathematical scientists.
To participate in the experiment,
you'll need a Beta compatible
Java browser,
ie NetScape 2.0 (at least Beta 6). If you have Java, then you can
use this page to
chat to fellow researchers in real time
(by typing in the bottom box). This is the same software
that I use in my virtual
office. See there for more details. There is also
demonstration
information available for those without a browser.
This client is communicating with an experimental
Virtual Institute Network.
The board button will get you to a point and
click interface to the network blackboard service. Load an image,
then write on the image, and the writing will appear on
the other clients on the channel.
Simply pick a nickname, and enter the reception area of the
network (channel #Reception). You can then move to, or create a new,
channel.
You may be able to find me on #SPBoffice.
